Memorial Day Weekend

What a great Memorial Day weekend!! Was fortunate to have Jerry/Weston Barrix and Gaylord/Louis Hodges at the Lodge for their annual trip to Linger’s Guide Service& Fishing Lodge! This was their thirteenth year to come fish with us and enjoy the ARKANSAS OZARKS….there is only one group who have come more consecutive years so we tried to celebrate. Fishing was slow and all who fished that weekend White or Norfork can certainly attest to that. However, we caught some of the largest fish we have caught on any trip! The Norfork River produced the best fish….coming on WHITE RIVER ZIG JIGS and RAPALAS!…….The water levels are high and will remain the same for weeks and weeks,….now is the time to get here and chase the big fish around!!…..CONTACT ME FOR DATES….LINGER’S GUIDE SERVICE & FISHING LODGE!!

Fish on!!

IMG_2274Fish on is the call that strikes fear in the heart of your competitors!! Well, it was something like that today. My long time customer and friend from Benton Arkansas and his wife attacked the Norfork River first. It was not to be. The Norfork can be off or on and this morning it was off!

These folks are casters and never sat down. Their result was only four fish and just enough for shore lunch. However, after a fried trout shore lunch, we were back at it on the white river and bingo!

IMG_2280They caught thirty, something fish in a couple of hours. The day was saved, and I hope my reputation as well. “All is well that ends,” as you can see by the happy folks in the picture on the deck of the lodge. Her first trout, a beautiful 17 inch brown for dad and even the little mutual help getting lures out of trees!!

Get in on the fun at Linger’s Guide Service & Fishing Lodge!! I am booking now for late June and the summer!!

Big Water

IMG_2168NEXT WEEK…..I will take to the river in pursuit of the wiley BROWN TROUT!! The water is extremely high but that is how I like it. It moves the big boys close to the cut banks where they can get some relief from the heavy water. How big is the water? The Corp is running all generators on Bull Shoals plus 6 flood gates and all generators on the Norfork with 4 flood gates open. The houses across from the lodge almost have water in them and I am sure they are nervous. The lakes at well above flood stage with all boat ramps under water as well as camping areas, restrooms etc.If the Corp continues at its present release rate it will take approximately 60 days to get the lakes back to power pool IF we get NO RAIN  or SNOW!Will hopefully have a good report for you next week….In the mean time work on your Spring schedule to make time for a trip to LINGER’S GUIDE SERVICE & FISHING LODGE!

P.S. The pic of the colored water is the water in the “races” at the Federal Trout Hatchery. The lake feeds the hatchery for temperature control so the “races” become the color of the lake. The lake is flooded/colored so the trout are being raised in very stained water. It does not have any negative impact on them.

OUT OF BAD THINGS…GOOD CAN COME!!

DSC00780OUT OF BAD THINGS…GOOD CAN COME!!…..and it’s getting ready to happen!! We have just experienced a 100 year flood on the White River which was a very bad experience for those electing to live in the flood plain….HOWEVER!! The best BROWN TROUT fishing I have experienced in my whole life was in 2008 after our last 100 year flood. It lasted a good six months after the flood waters receded. It will take several months for the Corp to release the water being held in Norfork and Bullshoals lakes and that makes GREAT BROWN TROUT FISHING! Tie on a Rattlin Rogue or Rapala go to the banks that hold the larger fish and hang on!! Starting anytime through the next several months we should have plenty of generator of water most every day and that is the key to pin pointing the BROWNS!! Give your schedule a little thought and book a trip to the WHITE RIVER to chase the Finney Foe!! LINGER’S GUIDE SERVICE & FISHING LODGE knows how and where to put you in the proximity of that trophy you have been waiting for! Call-Text or email me to set up your Winter excursion to the WHITE & NORFORK rivers!!

What A Trip!

The Barrix family and Hodges family have been coming here to fish with me for nearly 12 years. They make an annual pilgrimage from deep central Tennessee to enjoy the White River valley and the excellent trout fishing our area has to offer.

They were one of the first groups that used my guide service & fishing lodge when I started it twelve years ago. Knowing these folks and watching the boys grow up from 10 to 21 has been a treat in itself.

Talk about treats??? Weston Barrix had quite a treat by catching 22 and 25 inch BROWNS and capped it off with a 22.5 inch RAINBOW!! All came on the White River Zig Jig in Olive & Tan!!   Get your group together and come see us at LINGER’S GUIDE SERVICE & FISHING LODGE.We have somethng for everyone to enjoy even if it is just sitting on the deck and enjoying the panoramic view of the Ozark Mountains and the White River!

Brown Trout and Higher Water Results

Jim with brown trout.

High water gets good results in brown trout fishing.

This higher than normal water of late has certainly improved the BROWN TROUT fishing!! Due to the lakes being full they have been generating much more water than usual which raises the river a few feet. This moves those bigger BROWNS around and you have a  better chance of running into one.  Just tie on your RAPALA or ROGUE and don’t put it down!! Be patient and stay ready for the attack!!…….LARGEMOUTH BASS fishing has been really good of late as well.

SPINNER BAITS on top most all day if the weather/wind cooperate!!….. I have a lot to offer those that enjoy fishing in the ARKANSAS OZARKS so book your trip today and let’s enjoy the experience together…..LINGER’S GUIDE SERVICE & FISHING LODGE…….call…email…..or text me…..any of those will work for me!!
