Season Kick Off

With one more week of vacation before the lodge/guide service kicks off for the season, Nancy and I were fortunate to get invited to fish a 250-acre lake in east central Arkansas for a couple of days…..and what a couple of days it was!! The first afternoon we only landed 14 fish, but they were great BASS. My biggest three weighed 21 pounds, and I had several more in the 4,5,6 pound range. Nancy was terribly proud of her largest fish coming in at 8 pounds!! What a fun time if you are a bass fisherman and that is putting it mildly…….Now is the time to think about your trip here to the White River and Arkansas Ozarks. Bookings are coming in on a regular basis so get in touch with me so we can get you the dates you want!! LINGER’S GUIDE SERVICE & FISHING LODGE……IT’S TIME TO GET OUTDOORS AND DO SOME FISHING!!

Small-Mouth On White River

SMALL-MOUTH ON THE WHITE RIVER…..Folks that have come here for a long time have no idea you can fish all day JUST FOR SMALL-MOUTH.You just have to know the banks that hold them and what baits to present to them. A couple of days ago I fished Richard Ferranto from Buffalo City to Norfork with our primary target being Small-Mouth. We caught 25 “Smallies” with three 2.0 to 2.25 pounders. That is not bad for the White River. We also caught 8/10 Rainbows and two small Browns. If you have an interest, you can contact me, and we can work out the details of YOUR trip! AS A SIDE NOTE….low water keeps this from happening as when the river drops it takes water away from where the “Smallies” hang out. They move out to the middle of the river and are hard to catch in the deep water. BOOK A TRIP TO LINGER’S GUIDE SERVICE & FISHING LODGE to enjoy yourself and have a little fun!IMG_2537

My wife, Nancy, and I just spent a couple of days and nights on the wonderful Buffalo River. The Buffalo River is the ONLY National River in the United States. It got its designation in 1972 but Congress never officially voted the deal into law until 1992. Being a National Park and operated by them is great but different rules do apply than what we see on a daily basis on the four White & Norfork Rivers. The park is a remote 135 of untamed river with no dams and no commercial businesses along the river. No residences/roads/concessions allowed. If you are a lover of the outdoors you want to put a float of some type on your “bucket list”! You will be glad you did. Keep in mind that camping is your only option except for a few cabins at Buffalo Point run by the park service.

Our float was 26 miles full of Smallmouth Bass. We saw raccoons, Herons Blue and Green, a few snakes, two River Otters, Bald Eagles, and Deer just to name a few of the obvious creatures that inhabit our great outdoors.

OF COURSE I did the perfect job of packing our boat with everything a person would need to camp for a few days except for forgetting cots and forks. After all who needs a cot or fork. The conversation around camp was not for youngsters when my wife discovered my errors.

OK, so I made one mistake in 36 years….boy it was a good one!! Go to my website and click on BLOG to see all the photos of our trip.

If you get the opportunity to float the Buffalo I would highly recommend it to all. . . just don’t forget the cots or forks!

With all of our bad weather this Winter it has been difficult just to get to the river or lake. Finally with a break in the weather we are back on track. The trout are right where they need to be and the lake fishing is picking up heading toward the “spawn”.

My good friend Kenneth and I took to Norfork Lake yesterday with “stickbaits” in hand and a good day was had. It produced 20 something fish with enough keepers to have a nice fish dinner tonight!

We do a lot of different things here at LINGER’S GUIDE SERVICE & FISHING LODGE. Between Trout, Bass, Walleys, Stripers we canalways have choices of what you can do to enjoy the Arkansas Ozarks. Book a trip today and come experience what we have to offer!!
